Hey! I’m Ryan, one of the strategists here at Hurrdat. I create content and manage social media accounts for our clients, among other things.
Everybody always told me that my parents knew best, but I didn’t believe them when they told me I should go into communications. Although I don’t remember it, I’m told I sang along with jingles on TV and the radio and named car brands by logos when I was little. Needless to say, my decision to start college as an architecture student didn’t last long — six weeks to be exact — and I ended up switching my major to advertising and public relations. I guess they were right after all.
I grew up as an avid Iowa State fan but ended up staying here in Nebraska for college, which was the best choice I could have possibly made. I had the opportunity to start producing real work in the first few weeks of my ADPR classes, and although it was challenging, I was hooked. That coursework opened up the doors to producing work for real clients through PRSSA and internships and sparked my interest in a career at an agency at some point in the future.
I spent two years as the copywriter intern at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Office of University Communication during college, which exposed me to the fast-paced, collaborative style of an agency and gave me opportunities to strengthen my skills in writing, strategy, web and video. I landed on the Hurrdat team just a few weeks after graduation and I couldn’t be happier to be here.
When I’m not at work creating content and serving up hot, fresh copy for our clients, you’ll stand a good chance of finding me cruising down one of Lincoln’s bike trails, finding new bands on Spotify or trying a new beer at a local brewery.
