This blog is part of a series in which we ask our team to answer one question that allows us share a little bit about what we do and who we are. This month we asked:

What was your favorite change on social this year?

Krista Vogel, Agency Director

“The implementation of Instagram CTA buttons is huge. It’s historically been pretty difficult to track down products posted on brands’ Instagram pages due to the lack of clickable URLs, but the CTA buttons eliminate that frustration. Unfortunately, this feature is for paid advertisers only, so I’m crossing my fingers for a general release next year. I think Instagram could function similarly to Pinterest in that way, that people could find and purchase the things they want all at once.”

Chris Gorman, Business Development Director

“Periscope and Snapchat quickly became some of my favorite social channels. I love how honest and ‘in the moment’ they are.”

Veronica Barrientos, Account Executive

“My favorite addition on social this year was definitely Snapchat’s filters. It puts a new twist on sending a selfie. That’s one of the reasons I love Snapchat so much: It’s not meant for someone to take seriously. Silliness is encouraged!”

Annie Hildebrand, Account Manager

“The embrace of more visual elements on social platforms. Facebook and Twitter made GIFs easier to use, and Instagram lets you use emojis in hashtags. I feel like this shows that the platforms are understanding that how we talk on their platforms is evolving, and it really shows an understanding of the change in behavior that the younger users of Generation Z are exhibiting.

I think Snapchat lived up to everything users said they were hoping for in all the “what are you looking for in 2015” lists. The filters are great and have expanded a lot, even in a way that brands allows brands to take advantage of them (for a price). Their content creators to place a lot of platform-specific content on their site, whether it’s through stories or the Discover feature. Snapchat continually finds a way to get users back on the platform.”

Nikki Whitehead, Account Manager

“I’m excited that Facebook added a way to pin your friends or the people whose updates you enjoy seeing to the top of your feed. I love the way you can tell your stories now with the incorporation of pictures and videos that you can play in a collage or in a strip to scroll down. Also, thank you, Instagram, for letting users post full pictures now instead of cropped ones! I was also happy to see that Twitter added the Moments feature this year.”

Matt Holt, Graphic Designer

“I actually really enjoyed the addition of Twitter Moments. As someone who doesn’t surf hashtags very often, it offers an enjoyable solution to see what’s trending in a news-style format.”

Justin Van Nostrand, Paid Media Strategist

“The revamp to Facebook’s Ads Manager was a huge change and makes it a lot easier to analyze your results across different campaigns and ad sets.”

Angie Schmidt, Paid Media Strategist

“The integration of Instagram and Facebook ads. I’m excited to see the opportunities we’ll be able to offer clients on a new platform.”

Ruth Oliver, Social Media Manager

“The new Pinterest mobile interface is much more attractive with large headings for board titles and a mosaic preview of what was last pinned to a board.”

“I really like how Twitter changed to “likes.” I think the red and green look better together Jack Johnson, and it’s nice when a heart pops up as a notification.”

Tori Grdina, Digital Marketing Strategist

“I love that Instagram now allows users to post non-square photos. The feature happened to roll out when I was in Colorado, and it was great to be able to share all my landscape shots as actual landscape shots — the uncropped way they were meant to be shared!”
