Hey, hi, hello. I’m Shelby, an ENTJ personality type, avid people-watcher, and frequent coffee drinker. I’m also Hurrdat’s research and analytics intern this fall.

As a clueless freshman at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, I declared an advertising/public relations major and figured I had four years to decide what I wanted to do with that. I remember sitting in an intro-level class learning about all of the different opportunities within the ad world when the professor started talking about research. She told us Starbucks has people sitting in coffee shops, observing and interacting with customers in an attempt to understand consumer behavior and industry trends. I was sold. An added psychology major, a semester on UNL’s National Student Advertising Competition team, and a summer-long consumer insights internship later, I think it’s safe to say I’ve found my place in research and analytics.

Now I’m here, researching trends, helping plan social media content, and tracking the successes of this content by collecting analytics. Not only do I get the opportunity to learn more about social media and digital marketing landscape, I get to do it while surrounded by the talented individuals here at Hurrdat. Even after spending only a few days here, it’s easy to see that each person here is passionate about what they do and the clients they get to work with. I couldn’t be more excited to spend the next few months here!

When I’m not nerding out about new and exciting ideas in the advertising world or the latest psychology research, I’m usually at one of the coffee shops here in Lincoln or making my third trip of the week to Ivanna Cone. I enjoy spending the rest of my time diving into good books, scrolling endlessly through Twitter, re-watching episodes of New Girl, and making chocolate chip cookies just so I can eat the dough. I love rainy days, dislike even numbers, and occasionally watch TV commercials for fun.

Shelby’s Fast Facts:
